Ducati has decided to launch a special edition of the 1199 Panigale S as a tribute to the most beloved Formula 1 driver ever, Ayrton Senna.
Production of the limited-run motorcycle will begin in June 2014 to mark twenty years since Senna's death on May 1, 1994 at Imola during the San Marino Grand Prix. The special 1199 Panigale S will be produced in a limited quantity of 161 units – the number of races Senna participated in F1 - which will all be sold in Brazil and are going to feature a Senna-inspired color scheme.
Each motorcycle will boast a racing exhaust system and an individual production number inscribed on the top fork clamp. The first unit (01/161) is going to be showcased at the TWO WHEELS Motorcycle Show in Sao Paulo together with one of the original Ducati 916 Senna models introduced back in 1995.
