Alpina has disclosed UK pricing details for its latest product, the BMW 3-Series-based D3 Bi-Turbo.

It was a month ago when Alpina introduced the D3 Bi-Turbo at IAA in Frankfurt and now they have announced pricing info for the UK market where the frugal yet powerful 3-Series can be had from 46,950 GBP if you opt for the sedan or 49,950 GBP if you prefer the estate. At their heart is a six-cylinder, 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel which churns 350 bhp (257 kW) and a peak torque of 516 lb-ft (700 Nm).

These numbers were possible by installing a bigger intercooler, optimizing the air intake, along with mounting a stainless steel sports exhaust system and an exhaust manifold. The power unit works with an upgraded 8-speed automatic gearbox with an overhauled torque converter which enables the sedan to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 172 mph (278 km/h). It's not only fast but economical as well since the 2014 Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo will return 53.2 mpg UK (44.3 mpg US or 5.3 liters / 100 km) with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km.

It comes with a long list of standard equipment such as an Adaptive M Sport Suspension, leather upholstery, bi-xenon headlights, climate control and electrically-adjustable heated sport seats. Other goodies include luxury carpet overmats, several Alpina logos on the door sills and seat backs, along with Alpina Blue instruments and a Lavalina hand-stitched leather-wrapped steering wheel. On the outside it gets the tuner's well-known 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, subtle aerodynamic upgrades and a quad exhaust arrangement.
