A Chevrolet Cruze prototype has been caught by our spies at Nurburgring as it gears up for a 2016 model year launch.

General Motors were hoping to launch the second generation model in the fall of 2014 as a 2015 model but the American automaker has decided to delay it a further year. Reasons are being kept quite for the time being, however there are a few rumors flying around.

Some suggest GM are attempting to milk every cent of profit available from the current model whilst others say engineering changes are proving difficult and time consuming to develop.

Whatever the reason, we should expect to see the new model complete with a brand new interior and exterior styling with additional storage and cabin space.

The D2XX platform it is riding on will also provide a base for the next generation Volt, Astra and Equinox.
