Korean automaker Kia are readying the next generation Borrego that is set to hit the streets as a 2015 model.

The name means "bighorned sheep" was is derived from the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California but it hasn't garnered enough interest amongst consumers. The first generation SUV was dropped from the US market due to poor sales, but rumors and evidence indicate Kia are looking to resurrect the model for the second generation.

The Kia Borrego SUV which is known as the Mohave in other markets was caught taking advantage of the mean tarmac of Nurburgring. It is wearing a heavy disguise but there is no mistaking the more upscale design with hints of inspiration from the Forte and Cadenza.

Engine options are set to include 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder and 3.3-liter GDI V6 units and rumors also suggest a hybrid will form part of the line-up.

The Kia Borrego / Mohave will debut during 2014 and will likely commence sales in Korea before its launch in the all-important North American market.
