In an interview with Les Echos, Renault's director of powertrain strategy said "We are studying the gradual introduction of hybrids in our range by 2020." Marc Bodin went on say the company is working on "all available technologies" which implies they are considering everything from a mild hybrid to a plug-in hybrid.

Automotive News followed up on the report and was informed that Renault's hybrid work is in the "exploratory stage" and the company hasn't determined when or if they will launch of hybrid. An unnamed spokesperson also confirmed the company could offer a Dacia hybrid is the Renault hybrid is green-lighted.

Renault was coy on details but Les Echos is reporting that the company's first hybrid could be the production version of the Initiale Paris concept which previews the Espace replacement which is due next year.
