Subaru has announced the Outback that was first launched in Europe in 1996 has received a range of upgrades for the 2014 model year.
The highlight is the new powertrain that sees the 2.0-litre Boxer diesel engine mated together with a Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) for the first time. It results in a fuel economy figure of 44.8mpg and emits 166/km of CO2 emissions. Further under the skin, the chassis has been upgraded to improve ride and handling.
Meanwhile, the exterior gets a set of new 17-inch gunmetal alloy wheels, two new liveries: Deep Sea Blue Pearl and Dark Grey Metallic and the black-plastic cladding has been replaced with body colored versions.
UK pricing for the Subaru Outback with the 2.0-litre Boxer diesel engine starts at £29,995 with manual transmission. This rises to £31,495 with the Lineartronic transmission.
