The Volvo Concept Coupe was one of the stars of the Frankfurt Motor Show and a new report is indicating the model could go into limited production.

According to Autobild's sources, the overwhelming response to the concept has forced the company's Board of Directors to consider a production variant. There's no word on when the model could be launched but the magazine says a decision could be made early next year. If it is green-lighted, Bertone could be tasked with building the car.

As a refresher, the Concept Coupe was designed to preview the company's new styling direction. Besides looking fantastic, the model was equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that had a 2.0-liter Drive-E petrol engine and an electric motor that powered the rear axle. This setup enabled the concept to have a combined maximum output of approximately 400 bhp (298 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque.
