Citroën has announced the C4 Cactus will be officially revealed next year on February 5.
This isn't a random date as it represents the fifth anniversary of the DS lineup and also marks 136 years since company founder Andre Citroën was born. C Line chief Pierre Monferrini told Autocar feedback on the Cactus concept was "very positive" and the production variant will stay largely true to the concept once it arrives in dealerships.
He also suggested the car will not ride on the recently introduced EMP2 platform and all "Cactus"-branded models will serve as simple, no-frills cars with a more affordable price tag. The C4 Cactus will be powered by small and efficient engines mated to simple gearboxes in order to keep costs down.
At this moment Citroën hasn't made up its mind whether to sell the car as a hatchback or a crossover, but they do consider marketing it as a "cross-hatch". The concept looked more like a crossover whereas the hatchback we saw in several spy pics adopts a hatchback appearance.
