Motor Trend has managed to get their hands on a copy of Volkswagen's "e-mobility matrix" which reveals the company will launch at least seven eco-friendly models next year.

First up, Audi will introduce the A3, A6, A8 and Q7 e-trons. There's no word on specifications but the company has already confirmed the A3 e-tron will have a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 150 HP (110 kW) 1.4-liter TFSI petrol engine and a 102 HP (75 kW) electric motor. This will give the five-door hatchback a combined maximum output of 204 HP (150 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

Moving on, the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid will likely feature the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the Panamera S E-Hybrid. This means we can expect it to use a 320 HP (235 kW) 3.0-liter V6 engine, a 95 HP (70 kW) electric motor and a 9.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. There's no word on how efficient the model will be but the Panamera S E-Hybrid consumes 3.1 L/100km (75.8 mpg US or 91.1 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions of just 71 g/km.

Last but not least, Volkswagen will launch the Golf TwinDrive and Passat TwinDrive. Little is known about them but they are expected to use same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the Audi A3 e-tron. However, the magazine speculates the Passat TwinDrive could have an upgraded electric motor to help compensate for the car's additional mass.
