Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk has revealed some new details about his autonomous driving plans.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Musk said Tesla's autonomous driving technology should be able to cover "90 percent of miles driven within three years." The executive declined to go into specifics but said the technology is being developed internally. As you may recall, Tesla was in discussions with Google about using their autonomous driving technology but Musk said "The problem with Google’s current approach is that the sensor system is too expensive."

Tesla's system doesn't sound like the most advanced in the industry, but Musk doesn't seem to mind as he told the paper a fully autonomous vehicle is a "bridge too far." He added that “It’s incredibly hard to get the last few percent” to enable a car to fully control itself.
