The new Peugeot 308 GTi has been spied undergoing testing for the first time, ahead of what we believe will be a 2014 launch.
Peugeot is previewing a range-topping R version of the new 308 with a concept at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. The 308 R makes 274 HP (201 kW) while the most powerful 308 on sale today has 155 HP (114 kW). This 308 GTi will fit between the two and is expected to provide somewhere in the region of 200 HP (147 kW) probably from a 1.6-liter THP mill.
In terms of looks, Peugeot isn't planning major changes for the GTi version as the only tweaks we notice are a lowered suspension, new fog lights and a dual exhaust arrangement. We believe there will be more changes in tow, such as revised bumpers, larger alloys and some interior cabin updates.
