The 2014 Seat Leon ST has premiered today at Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany.
It represents the Spanish alternative to its Golf VII Variant and Octavia Combi cousins, boasting a 587-liter cargo room that can increase to an impressive 1,470 liters after folding the rear seats. Although it sports the same wheelbase as the five-door hatchback, the more practical ST version has 270mm longer rear overhang which has increased weight by 99 lbs (45 kg).
Engine choices will include a 1.2 TSI rated at 105 HP (77 kW), a 1.4 TSI with 122 HP (90 kW) followed by a 1.8 TSI delivering 180 HP (132 kW). On the diesel side, clients can opt for a 105 HP 1.6-liter TDI, a 150 HP (110 kW) 2.0 TDI and a 184 HP (135 kW) version of the same mill. Depending on engine choice, gearboxes include five- or six-speed manual, along with a dual clutch six- or seven-speed DSG. Both gasoline and diesel range-topping FR versions will complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) task in 7.8 seconds.
The 2014 Seat Leon ST will be optionally available with full LED headlights and taillights, along with LED daytime running lights. FR models get the latest implementation of DCC adaptive chassis control with three different modes, while the optional Dynamic Pack comprises a progressive steering system. Seat is also offering the ACC adaptive cruise control, as well as other assistance systems like drowsiness detection, full beam assist, lane-keeping assistant and multi-collision brake.
