McLaren is celebrating their 50th anniversary by taking a look back at the brand's historic achievements.

The story begins on September 2nd, 1963 when Bruce McLaren incorporated Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Limited at the ripe old age of 26. While the company only had a few employees and a cramped workshop in New Malden, they rose to fame thanks to McLaren's decision to enter Formula One in 1966.

Since then, the company has scored 182 victories in Formula One and 43 wins in the North American CanAm series. McLaren has also scored three Indy 500 championships and a 24 Hours of Le Mans win on their first attempt in 1995.

In 1993, McLaren Automotive was launched with the iconic F1 whichis described as the "purest and most focused supercar in history." In more recent years, McLaren has unveiled the MP4-12C, the 12C Spider and the P1.

Speaking of current models, McLaren used their 50th anniversary celebration to unveil the 3,000th 12C. It is a Volcano Yellow 12C Spider that was paraded around a group of employees by Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Sergio Perez.

According to McLaren Chairman Ron Dennis, “McLaren started as the dream of one man, and it’s since grown to encompass the hopes and dreams of more than 2000 men and women, who work as tirelessly as Bruce McLaren himself once did to ensure that everything we do reflects well when compared with everything we’ve ever achieved."
