Opel recently took the wraps off the 2013 Insignia OPC, so it comes as little surprise that their British colleagues have followed suit by releasing the first pictures of the facelifted Vauxhall Insignia VXR SuperSport.

Set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Insignia VXR SuperSport has a familiar design but is distinguished by modified bumpers and revised headlights. The model also has a new dashboard, an updated infotainment system and revised switchgear.

Motivation is provided by a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 engine that churns out 325 HP (239 kW) and 435 Nm (321 lb-ft) of torque. When connected to a six-speed manual transmission, the model accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds (6.1 seconds for Sports Tourer) before topping out at 170 mph (273 km/h).

On the handling front, engineers upgraded the rear suspension and made software modifications to ESP and FlexRide adaptive damping system.

The facelifted Insignia VXR SuperSport is currently available to order and pricing starts at £29,749 for the Hatch and £31,049 for the Sports Tourer.
