Just hours after our spies snapped photos of the 2014 BMW M4 Coupe they have managed to catch its four-door counterpart.

Caught wearing less disguise than ever before, the prototype reveals the model will have a number of familiar styling cues including an aggressive front bumper, aerodynamic mirrors, revised side skirts and a four-tailpipe exhaust system. The latest photos also show the car will have wider rear fenders and a new trunk with an integrated spoiler.

Besides the styling tweaks, the M3 is expected to have to have a carbon fiber roof, hood and trunk. This could enable the sedan to weigh 100 kg (220 lbs) less than its predecessor.

Like the M4, the M3 is expected to use a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that develops approximately 420 bhp (313 kW). It will likely be connected to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed M DCT Drivelogic gearbox.

The 2014 BMW M3 could be introduced alongside the M4 Coupe at the North American International Auto Show but nothing is official as of yet.
