Volkswagen has announced plans to introduce the Caddy BlueMotion at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Described as the "most fuel-efficient Caddy ever," the model is distinguished by special badging, distinctive wheel covers and a 27mm reduced ride height.

Interior changes are limited but the model comes nicely equipped with cruise control, hill hold assist, exclusive seat upholstery and gloss black air vents (on the passenger version).

Power is provided by a 1.6-liter TDI engine that develops 102 HP (72 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to an engine start/stop system, low rolling resistance tires, regenerative brakes and an optimized ECU it enables the model to average 4.5 L/100km and have CO2 emissions of 117 g/km (4.6 L/100km and 119 g/km in the passenger version).

The Caddy BlueMotion will be available exclusively as a short wheelbase model in panel van, kombi van and passenger van configurations. It will go on sale shortly and German pricing starts at €17,720.
