Porsche has quietly introduced the 2014 911 GT America.
Designed to compete in the United Sports Car Racing (USCR) GT Daytona class, the GT America is based on the GT3 Cup and features a unique rear wing for maximum "aerodynamic balance." The model also has a carbon-fiber underbody, a roof rescue hatch and a Cosworth digital dash. There's also 380mm slotted and internally-vented steel rotors which are back up by four- and six-piston aluminum calipers.
Power is provided by a 4.0-liter flat-six engine that produces 470 HP (345 kW). It is connected to a six-speed sequential transmission that is controlled by a pneumatic paddle shift system.
The 911 GT America will be priced from $269,000 and deliveries are slated to begin in October.
