"Queen of the Nürburgring" Sabine Schmitz raced 'Ring instructor Ron Simons in a BAC MONO duel at Spa-Francorchamps.

Ron said he never lost a race at Spa on a wet circuit but he was no match for Sabine who lapped the track in 2 minutes and 43.760 seconds while Simons was about two seconds slower, crossing the line in 2 minutes and 45.840 seconds.

Both of them drove a BAC MONO fitted with a Cosworth-developed naturally-aspirated 2.3-liter engine churning 280 bhp (209 kW). The longitudinally-mounted mill is mated to a Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox with a limited-slip differential. The track toy will do 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and 0-100 mph (0-161 km/h) in 6.7 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 170 mph (273 km/h).
