Fiat has introduced three 500-inspired "personal watercrafts" at the Vans U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California.

Designed to promote the fledgling brand in America, the models are based on the 500, 500 Cabrio and 500 Abarth. Fiat declined to release specifications but said the models are "high-powered" and entertained "thousands of surf fans during the competition’s opening day." The company also confirmed the existence of additional boats, including a version of the Fiat 500L.

The boats probably caused people to do a double take, but the idea isn't terribly original as MINI created a Cooper Convertible boat as part of their Not Normal campaign. It was recently shown at Philadelphia's Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta and features a traditional hull as well as a variety of authentic parts.
