The 2014 Audi A8 facelift has been spied during the evening showing its revised taillights.

The facelifted Audi flagship model will come with a redesigned front grille, reworked bumpers and a new look for both head/taillights. In addition, the exhaust finishers will be integrated into the rear bumper. The interior cabin is said to get an updated infotainment system and instrument cluster.

Audi has confirmed the revised A8 will be launched before the end of the year and will be available with matrix LED headlights. Currently banned in the United States, these headlights have 25 high-beam LEDs clustered in groups of five with reflectors. The German automaker says the system can "blank out light that would shine directly onto oncoming and preceding vehicles, but continues to cast the high beams with full power on all other zones between and beside them."

These matrix LED headlights don't need servo motors to direct light and are compatible with Audi's optional night vision system. They can also work as cornering lights, while depending on traffic conditions the system can dim or turn off the LEDs.

Engine lineup will probably be carried over so expect a V6 3.0-liter TDI, a V6 3.0-liter TFSI, a V8 4.0-liter TFSI and a V8 4.2-liter TDI. There should also be a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter TFSI, a hybridized 2.0-liter TFSI and a W12 6.3-liter FSI outputting 500 HP (368 kW).

A public debut should occur in September at Frankfurt Motor Show.
