Subaru has quietly introduced the BRZ S in Australia.
Developed by Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the car is essentially a standard model that has been equipped with a sports package that includes a front spoiler, revised side skirts, a trunk-mounted spoiler and a rear under spoiler. There's also a strut tower brace, lowering springs and 17-inch STI alloy wheels with a black finish.
Interior changes are limited but include a push-button ignition and a revised gear shift with a "Duracon" knob on manual models.
According to Subaru Australia Managing Director Nick Senior, "All indications are that many BRZ buyers want to add some performance touches to their cars and choosing Subaru-backed equipment offers great design, quality and peace-of-mind that isn’t necessarily guaranteed by after-market suppliers.”
The package costs $7995 AUD on models equipped with a manual transmission and $7195 AUD for vehicles with a six-speed automatic. Existing BRZ customers can also have their cars retrofitted with the new package.
