Mercedes accidently released a video of the 2014 S63 AMG earlier this year, but two purported pictures of the model have surfaced online.
Published by Germany's Bild, the pictures reveal a conservative flagship which has been outfitted with a new front bumper that has a front spoiler and flared air intakes. The car has also been equipped with revised side skirts, a four-tailpipe exhaust system and a ventilated rear bumper.
The styling won't win everyone over, but the model is reportedly 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter thanks to a lithium-ion battery and aluminum body panels. The car also features a sports-tuned suspension, a sportier steering system and optional carbon ceramic brakes.
Power is reportedly provided by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine that develops 585 HP (430 kW). This should enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds with 4MATIC all-wheel drive and 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds without it.
The publication goes on to say the S65 AMG will return with 635 HP (467 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque.
Thanks to Alexander for the tip!
Update: as several of our readers have pointed out, the pictures appear to be renderings based on a pre-production prototype
