A new report indicates Opel is about to revive the Monza moniker with a concept for this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

It will be based on a shortened Cadillac ATS platform and is said to adopt a rear-wheel drive layout. Engine lineup will allegedly include a variety of four- and six-cylinder engines with displacements between 2.0 and 3.6 liters. The range-topping six-cylinder 3.6-liter mill is rumored to output about 325 bhp (242 kW). These engines will be linked to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission.

At the beginning of the year we posted a photo of a coupe concept sporting an aggressive front fascia with an Adam-like grille. We believe this will be the Monza concept that Opel will show in September. Time will tell.
