Mercedes has announced the 2014 SLS AMG Black Series will be priced from $275,000 when it goes on sale in the United States next month.
Mercedes has announced the 2014 SLS AMG Black Series will be priced from $275,000 - excluding an $1,800 for destination charge - when it goes on sale in the United States next month.
Described as a street-legal version of the SLS AMG GT3, the Black Series features an aerodynamic body kit with modified bumpers, revised side skirts and flared wheel arches. There's also a rear diffuser, a carbon fiber wing and 19- / 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Power is provided by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that has a "fully revised high-speed valve train with modified camshafts, adapted cam geometry and optimized bucket tappets featuring a special coating that is typically used on race vehicles." It enables the mill to produce 622 bhp (464 kW) and 468 lb-ft (634 Nm) of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h).
Mercedes also announced the C63 AMG Edition 507 sedan will cost $70,000 while the C63 Edition 507 coupe will retail for $72,500 (both excluding a $925 destination charge). The models feature a 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 507 hp (372 kW) and 450 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque. It enables the cars to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).
