The 2014 MINI Cooper was recently caught undisguised so the company has decided to put a positive spin on things by releasing an official spy photo of the upcoming model.

While the picture doesn't reveal much, MINI says "Members of the Royal Family, as well as actors, footballers and top models are all familiar with the sensation of being caught in uncompromising situations, and now MINI is the latest victim. Absolutely unaware and without make-up, the youngest member of our family was caught by sensationalist photographers in a highly private moment."

The jovial press release goes on to say the photos "do not reflect our good looks" as "those extra long telephoto lenses have the devastating ability to negatively distort all surfaces, lines and angles." MINI then says we'll have an opportunity to see the model "shortly" so expect an official announcement in the coming weeks.

As a refresher, the 2014 Cooper will have an evolutionary design that borrows a number of cues from the Rocketman concept. While the exterior styling will remain faithful to its predecessor, the interior will become more traditional and eschew the center-mounted speedometer.
