BMW has released a new promotional video that celebrates the 8-Series.
Built between 1989 and 1999, the 8-Series was the company's flagship coupe and the first production car with a drag coefficient of less than 0.3. Besides being extremely aerodynamic, the 8-Series had a "pillar-less" design and was the first BMW to come equipped with dynamic stability control.
While the model was equipped with a variety of engines over the years, the range-topping 850CSi had a 5.6-liter V12 that developed 380 HP (279 kW). This enabled the car to hit an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
As we have previously reported, BMW is considering a new 8-Series coupe which be influenced by the Gran Lusso Coupe concept. Nothing is official but a source said "We want to send out the message the future is not all about electric cars but also traditional models with real emotional appeal."
