Volkswagen UK has announced the Golf VII Estate has a starting price of 17,915 GBP, making it 765 GBP more expensive than the hatchback.

The previous Golf Estate offered 505 liters of cargo capacity while the new model has an additional 100 liters for storage. It can be increased to an impressive 1,620 liters (Golf VI Estate had 1,495 liters) once you fold down the rear seats. The loadspace is 1831mm long / 1003mm wide, with a payload capacity ranging from 600 kg (1,322 lbs) to 611 kg (1,347 lbs), depending on engine choice.

Speaking of engines, the Volkswagen Golf VII Estate can be had with a choice of four gasoline mills: 1.2-liter TSI with 85 HP (62 kW) and 105 HP (77 kW), 1.4-liter TSI with 122 HP (90 kW) and a 1.4-liter TSI ACT with 140 HP (103 kW) and cylinder deactivation. Diesel range includes 1.6-liter TDI offered with 90 HP (66 kW) and 105 HP (77 kW), together with a 2.0-liter TDI producing 150 HP (110 kW).

UK range will also include a more frugal “full” BlueMotion model powered by a 1.6-liter diesel engine rated at 110 HP (81 kW) mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Scheduled to go on sale before the end of the year, this economical variant will return 85.6 mpg UK (71.2 mpg US or 3.3 liters / 100 km).

Standard equipment across the entire range includes DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, seven airbags, 5.8-inch touchscreen display and XDS electronic differential. SE trim adds 16-inch rims, driver profile selection and several safety systems. GT brings 17-inch alloys, rear tinted windows, sports suspension, Discover navigation system, parking sensors and electrically folding door mirrors.
