Citroen has released the first details about the 2014 Grand C4 Picasso.

Designed to offer a "pioneering balance between interior spaciousness and flowing body styling," the model clearly resembles its five-passenger counterpart but is distinguished by a revised front fascia, distinctive taillights and a unique roof rack that blends into the D-pillar. The model also features a panoramic glass roof and 16-, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.

The interior carries over from the C4 Picasso which means it's nicely equipped with satin chrome trim, gloss black accents and LED ambient lighting. There's also an infotainment system and a 12-inch "panoramic HD" display that acts a digital instrument cluster.

Thanks the EMP2 platform, the Grand C4 Picasso has class-leading second and third row spaciousness as well as a cargo capacity in excess of 700 liters (24.7 cubic feet). The platform also helps to enable the model to weigh 100 kg (220 lbs) less than its predecessor.

Under the hood, a variety of different engines will be available including the e-HDi 90 Airdream, e-HDi 115 and BlueHDi 150. They can be connected to a six-speed manual or a new 6-speed Efficient Tronic Gearbox that "modulates gear change speeds more precisely, based on driver input, for improved performance and comfort."
