According to a recent report, Caterham's version of the jointly-developed Alpine sports car will be previewed by a concept early next year.

Little is known about the model but a source told Autocar it will have a "distinctively British" exterior that is instantly recognizable as a Caterham. That's a little vague, but the car is expected to look substantially different than the Alpine.

There's no word on what will power the model but sources have suggested the company could use an engine from Mazda or Toyota. Regardless of who provides the powerplant, it will produce more than 200 bhp (149 kW) as the car is reportedly being benchmarked against the Alfa Romeo 4C, Lotus Evora and Porsche Cayman.

The Caterham sports car concept is expected to be introduced after the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, so look for a possible debut in April or May.
