BMW has announced plans to introduce the Active Tourer Outdoor Concept at the 2013 OutDoor exhibition in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

The company declined to release pictures but said the model will debut on July 12th and meet the special needs of outdoor enthusiasts. BMW also hinted the car combines "comfort and dynamic design with a high level of spatial functionality and intelligent access to BMW ConnectedDrive services."

Little else is known about the model but the original Active Tourer Concept featured a plug-in hybrid powertrain which consisted of a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. It produced a combined output in excess of 190 HP (140 kW) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque which enabled the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than eight seconds, hit a top speed of approximately 200 km/h (124 mph) and travel more than 30 km (18.6 miles) on electricity alone.
