Following a teaser released a week ago, Nissan has introduced the ZEOD RC which will compete next year at 24 Hours of Le Mans.
"ZEOD" stands for "Zero Emissions On Demand" which means there will be electric motors working together with an internal combustion engine. Final specifications have not been established as Nissan will test several powertrain combinations in the next months. The Japanese marque did reveal the vehicle has been developed on a flexible platform allowing various powertrain configurations to be tested.
The battery technology will be mostly derived from the Leaf but with additional tweaks to match the significantly more power. As you would imagine, regenerative braking technology will be implemented to recharge the battery pack.
The Nissan ZEOD RC will participate in the "Garage 56" entry which is a slot allocated for experimental tech.
