Mercedes-Benz set a new sales record in the month of June 2007, delivering over 107,300 Mercedes-Benz cars, compared to 106,200 in June 2006. Mercedes-Benz January-June sales in 2007 were up 1.8%, from 565,300 in 2006 to 575,700 units this year. The facelifted E-class has witnessed strong sales and the introduction of the new generation C-class has helped push up C-class sales by 41% over last year. Despite Mercedes-Benz’s record sales, the Mercedes Car Group reported a 1.5% decline in total sales over the first six month period in 2007, largely due to weak performance of the Smart brand. Smart sales have declined by 32.2% in 2007. In June, Smart delivered 9,900 vehicles (compared to 12,600 in June 2006), of which 9,800 were Smart fortwo models.
