The Porsche Cayenne takes a lot of flak for being designed to appeal to soccer moms, so it's easy to forget the model is actually a capable off-roader.

Porsche is hoping to change that by releasing pictures of the Cayenne S Diesel tackling tough terrain as part of the company's Chisinau-Bratislava Performance Drive. The group departed from Chisinau, Moldova on June 9th and soon encountered an off-road route through the Carpathian Mountains. As a result, the Cayennes were subjected to steep slopes, river crossings and other challenging conditions.

As a refresher, the Cayenne S Diesel is powered by a twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8 engine that develops 382 HP (281 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 252 km/h (156 mph).
