Mercedes-Benz admitted they made a mistake by not developing such a model but they did say the next generation of the E-Class Coupe is going to receive the AMG treatment when it arrives later this decade.

Theoretically speaking, an AMG variant of the current E-Class Coupe would have the same twin-turbo V8 5.5-liter engine developing 557 HP (410 kW) and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) in the standard variant, while the more powerful and expensive S-Model would churn 585 HP (430 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm).

Had Mercedes-Benz given this model the green light, the E63 AMG Coupe would have received different wheels and several minor changes to its bodywork.
