The Volkswagen Touareg has been on the market for over three years, so it comes as little surprise the company is working on a minor facelift for their flagship model.

Recently snapped by our spy photographers, the facelifted Touareg has camouflaged fascias which likely hide modified bumpers, a revised grille and updated lighting units.

Our spies couldn't get close enough to snap interior photos, but the cabin is expected to feature an updated infotainment system and a variety of new driver assistance technology.

Under the hood, the entry-level 3.0-liter V6 TDI - that develops 205 HP (150 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque - could be replaced by a four-cylinder engine for improved fuel efficiency. Likewise, the 245 HP (180 kW) version of the 3.0-liter TDI could be upgraded to produce approximately 260 HP (194 kW).

The facelifted Volkswagen Touareg is expected to be launched in the fall of 2014 as a 2015 model.
