Chevrolet has officially announced the performance specifications for the Corvette's 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine.

Following a final round of testing, the engine is SAE-certified to produce 455 bhp (339 kW) and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of torque. Ordering the optional performance exhaust system boosts those numbers to 460 bhp (343 kW) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.

Chevrolet declined to release additional specifications, but reiterated the car will accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than four seconds and return 26+ mpg highway (US). Speaking of the latter, Chevrolet points out the LT1 engine has direct injection and cylinder deactivation technology to minimize fuel consumption.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray will go on sale later this year and pricing starts at $51,995 for the coupe and $56,995 for the convertible.
