BMW has announced the 2014 M5, M6 Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe facelifts which will be offered with an optional Competition Package bringing an extra 15 HP (11 kW).

As standard, the V8 4.4-liter engine produces 560 HP (412 kW) but with the Competition Package it can churn 575 HP (423 kW). The power unit is linked to a seven-speed M dual clutch gearbox and an Active M Differential at the rear axle.

Aside from the power hike, the optional package also adds M carbon ceramic brakes, updated suspension and damping systems, tuned stabilizer bars, 10mm lowered ride height and new hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering with M-specific Servotronic function. BMW has added bespoke 20-inch M alloys and a sport exhaust system with custom M black chrome twin tailpipes.

As a result of these changes, 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) is done 0.1 seconds quicker than before, while 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) takes 0.2 seconds less.

As standard they come with xenon headlights but BMW is offering as an option adaptive LED headlights. The M kidney grille now has the model designation and its slats mirror the double-spoke design of the M wheels, while the back of the cars have lightly revised LED taillights.

Inside, the steering wheel has been updated and there’s more storage compartment available under the armrest in the center console. Other changes worth mentioning include chrome trim on the sides of the iDrive, and for more money clients can opt for a Touch Controller with a touch-sensitive surface.

Starting July, BMW will offer the M5 facelift with new exterior paint hues: Pure Metal Silver, Frozen Blue metallic, Pyrite Brown metallic, along with more BMW Individual matt paintwork finishes. They will also offer bespoke leather shades like Nutmeg and Cashmere Beige.
