The video contains original footage from Ari Vatanen's victory at Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 1988 and Robby Unser's triumph a year later. Both of them drove a Peugeot 405 T16 Grand Raid which became known for its four-wheel steering system. The car was based on the 1987 205 T16 Pikes Peak and used a carbon Kevlar variant of its body with a new chassis made of sheet steel and tubular steel.
Fast forward to present day, Sébastien Loeb is getting ready for 2013 Pikes Peak where he will be using a 208 T16 Pikes Peak for the Unlimited Class on June 30th in Colorado, U.S. The car has a V6 3.2-liter twin-turbo engine outputting 875 bhp (652 kW) linked to a sequential six-speed gearbox and an all-wheel drive system. Tipping the scales at only 1,929 lbs (875 kg), the car needs just 1.8 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h).
