Audi has released a new video presenting how the 2013 R8 facelift is "handcrafted" at the Neckarsulm factory.

After promoting the range-topping R8 V10 Plus, Audi is back to provide a brief presentation of the supercar’s manufacturing process which takes place at the Neckarsulm factory where a team of 241 employees put together the firm's most powerful model on sale today.

The V10 Plus model has a 5.2-liter FSI engine with 550 HP (404 kW) and 398 lb-ft (540 Nm) of torque, good enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 197 mph (317 km/h).

The R8 could be dethroned several years from now if Audi will eventually decide to put into the production the R10 / Scorpion diesel-electric supercar which promises to be "something very special and something that bears testament to our victories at Le Mans", according to technical chief Wolfgang Dürheimer.
