Maserati could plan on launching in the next few years its own versions of the LaFerrari and Alfa Romeo 4C.

In reference to the LaFerrari, Maserati's chief Harald Wester said during 2013 Auto Shanghai "there is an opportunity" and "it is always the right time for a halo car", even though the company's main objective right now is to boost sales.

As previously reported, if Maserati will launch such a model it will probably drop the electric power of the LaFerrari. Engine choices could include LaFerrari's V12 6.3-liter or a more powerful variant of the V8 3.8-liter inside the Quattroporte. We should also expect a lighter car since it won't have the hybrid tech, but even so it certainly won’t be faster than the LaFerrari, for obvious reasons.

Wester said “it is a nice idea” when asked about a Maserati version of Alfa’s 4C which is rumored to come out around 2015. He also said there won’t be a smaller SUV slotted below the upcoming Levante. He added Maserati is not working on a smaller model to position below Ghibli, while for the moment four-cylinder engines are not considered.
