SSC Chief Officer Alan Leverett has announced the Tuatara has a starting price of 1.3M USD. Deliveries will start this December or in January 2014.
With an objective to grab Bugatti Veyron Super Sport's fastest car in the world title, the SSC Tuatara will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 6.9-liter (423 cubic inch) engine generating 1,350 bhp (1,007 kW) and 1,733 Nm (1,280 lb-ft) of torque when using 91 octane fuel. SSC has previously mentioned the all-new power unit can churn as much as 1,700 bhp (1,268 kW).
Since deliveries are expected to kick off late 2013 / early 2014, SSC will most likely unveil the Tuatara in production form in the next few months when hopefully we will find out its top speed. To become the fastest car in the world, it has to do more than 267.8 mph (430.98 km/h).
