Sport Auto's Christian Gebhardt recently conducted a top speed test with the 2013 Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance.
The slightly more powerful Performance version has the same 2.0-liter turbo engine but with 230 HP (169 kW), while the standard GTI has 220 HP (162 kW). Volkswagen quotes a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 6.4 seconds. Christian managed to hit the electronically-limited top speed of 259 km/h (160.94 mph) in approximately 49 seconds.
Already available on order in Europe, the Golf VII GTI range will go on sale in the United States in 2014, together with the regular models and all will be available as 2015MY.
