Not exactly a huge surprise, but Audi announced last Friday they will be using VW's hot new 1.4 liter TSI engine which is now available for order in the European market for Audi A3 and A3 Sportback. Keep in mind that this engine is not the twin-charged version which packs both turbo and supercharger. Set to replace the 1.6 liter FSI lump, this engine ditches the supercharger but keeps the turbo. As a result, to help differentiate this engine from VW's, they are calling it a 1.4 liter TFSI (turbo FSI) engine. But the difference doesn't end there, it has 3 more horsepower for a total of 125 bhp (92 kW) but torque remains the same at a healthy 200 Nm (148 ft/lbs). The 1.4 liter TFSI will be available with the Attraction trim package for €21,350 and available for delivery this September.
