XCAR's latest video involves a classic BMW M3 E30 and the more recent E92 GTS.

After taking a Morgan 3 Wheeler for a quick spin, the people over at XCAR decided to do a side-by-side comparison between an M3 E30 and the current E92 GTS. As most of you know, the E30 was the first M3 when it came out in 1986 and its most powerful variant was the Sport Evolution which produced 241 HP (177 kW).

As for the M3 E92 GTS, this can be considered as the ultimate M3 ever, a car powered by a V8 engine producing 450 HP (331 kW) which allows it to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds (0.2s faster than regular M3).

BMW is now working on the new M3 (F80) which will allegedly make use of an inline-six 3.0-liter S55 turbocharged mill generating 421 HP (310 kW). It should have a curb weight of 3,415 lbs, a lot less than the E92 which tips the scales at 3,704 lbs. The engine will probably be connected to a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that will be updated later on by adding an eight gear.

Chances are the new BMW M3 will reach dealerships in June next year, following a reveal towards the end of the year or early 2014.
