Beijing Auto has taken the wraps off a high-performance model which is based on the previous generation Saab 9-5 Aero.
Dubbed the Shenbao D-Series Aero, the car has prominent grille which is flanked LED-infused headlights. The model has also been equipped with a distinctive front spoiler, a sporty rear bumper and a four-tailpipe exhaust system. Thanks to the aerodynamic styling tweaks the model has a drag coefficient of just 0.28.
Power is provided by a turbocharged 2.3-liter engine that develops 349 HP (257 kW) and 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in approximately six seconds.
As we have previously reported, General Motors inked a deal to sell outdated Saab technology to Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings Co. Ltd (BAIC) in late 2009.
