Following a string of teasers, Nissan unveiled today at Auto Shanghai the Friend-ME Concept.

Design teams from Nissan Design China in Beijing and Nissan Global Design Center collaborated under direct supervision of Shiro Nakamura who is the firm's senior vice president and chief creative officer. As foundation they used a current Nissan platform so the number of bespoke parts necessary was minimal.

The concept is imagined with a PureDrive hybrid powertrain to create a low-emission vehicle designed for urban environments. Its specially developed center console stretches from the dash to between the rear seats and adopts an onyx-black finish. Each of the occupants is able to access a screen which shows info about the vehicle such as navigation, remaining fuel or speed.

More details can be accessed from the attached press release.
