Volkswagen has released pricing details for the 2013 Golf GTI sold in U.K.
It starts from 25,845 GBP which makes it 195 GBP more expensive than the outgoing sixth-gen Golf GTI. Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbo engine rated at 220 HP (162 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque, linked to a six-speed manual transmission. It takes 6.5 seconds to perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run and can reach a top speed of 153 mph (246 km/h).
For an additional 980 GBP clients can opt for the GTI Performance variant which offers 230 HP (169 kW) and the same amount of torque. It hits 62 mph in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Aside from the additional horsepower, this version has a limited-slip differential and ventilated front discs which measure 340 x 30mm (up from the standard 312 x 25 mm) and rear discs standing at 310 x 22 mm (up from the series 300 x 12 mm).
Standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, sporty seats with Jacara cloth upholstery, sports steering wheel, black roof lining, red ambience lightning, stainless steel pedal caps, bespoke instrument cluster and gear lever, along with a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, iPod and DAB digital radio connectivity.
Optional goodies include 19-inch Santiago alloys, rear view camera, Vienna leather upholstery, high beam assist, keyless entry, park assist, Dynaudio sound system with eight speakers and ten-channel amplifier, touchscreen satellite navigation and ACC Adaptive Chassis Control.
