Pininfarina announced recently that 2012 was the first profitable year since 2004.

The Italian automotive design firm has made its first profit in the last eight years thanks to a restructuring agreement reached in April 2012 which permitted Pininfarina to repay its loan in 2018, three years later than originally planned. In a statement made a few days ago, Pininfarina posted an 8.2M EUR operating loss last year and a 32.9M EUR net profit. In 2011 they had a net loss of 11.5M EUR.

Pininfarina showcased the beautiful Sergio Concept last month in Geneva, a car which has some chances to enter limited production. The Ferrari 458 Spider-based model could be made in 5-6 units, each priced at a steep 3M EUR. They already know what changes have to be made to turn it into a street-legal car.
