Mitsubishi has introduced the US-spec Mirage at the New York Auto Show.
Set to go on sale later this year, the pint-sized hatchback has an aerodynamic design with a low 0.28 coefficient of drag. The styling isn't anything to write home about but the car can be equipped with an optional design package that adds extended side skirts and revised bumpers.
Moving on to the cabin, the model features a three-spoke steering wheel, a split folding rear seat and piano black trim. There's also automatic climate control, power windows and a four-speaker audio system.
Moving up to the ES variant adds upgraded upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and silver trim. The model also has Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, a push-button ignition and steering wheel-mounted controls.
Power is provided by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that develops 74 bhp (55 kW) and 74 lb-ft (100 Nm) of torque. It can be connected to a five-speed manual or a continuously-variable transmission. With the latter gearbox, the Mirage is expected to return up to 37 mpg city / 44 mpg highway / 40 mpg combined (US).
