Acura has announced plans to introduce the 2014 MDX at the New York Auto Show.
Recently previewed by the MDX concept, the production model will feature an evolutionary design with angular headlights, a prominent grille and a sloping roofline. It will also ride on a new platform that promises to offer an improved ride quality, additional second-row legroom and better third-row access.
Power will be provided by a 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 engine that features Variable Cylinder Management technology. The company declined to release specifications, but the engine is expected to produce 310 bhp (231 kW) and 272 lb-ft (368 Nm) of torque. Regardless of the final numbers, front-wheel drive will be standard and all-wheel drive will be optional.
Additional information is limited, but Acura says the model will be nicely equipped with "Jewel Eye" LED headlights and a next-generation AcuraLink Connectivity System. We can also expect a variety high-tech safety features including a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Information and Forward Collision Warning / Lane Departure Warning system.
